It is an honor to represent all the citizens of Nelson County as I have these last nine years on the School Board and as a member of the Board of Supervisors. I have enjoyed planning for the future for my constituents, protecting the rich cultural heritage of rural Virginia, and remembering why we all love it here: the beautiful landscape and open spaces, and the character of the people. It has become clear to me over the years that there is fairly often a disconnect between what happens in Richmond and what is happening here in our community. All of our lives are affected by state legislation, and we need leaders with experience in local government to keep an eye on issues that concern us here at home. Virginia is changing rapidly, and protecting our rural heritage will be an ever-increasing challenge.
After many years of civic involvement in our region and in the state, I have been inspired to continue working to make a difference in Virginia at the state level and to be part of a team of people who want a better life for all citizens of the Commonwealth. To this end, I will seek a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates from the 59th District.
